Brothers Revive Ancient Tradition with 100% Edible Organic Holi Colors

In a bid to safeguard both tradition and environment, Mumbai-based entrepreneurs Gaurang and Saurabh Motta have introduced 'Abeer Holi Colours,' crafted in collaboration with the Bhil tribe. With a commitment to preserving the dying art of making natural Holi colors using flowers, the duo aims to revolutionize the way India celebrates the festival of colors.

Synthetic colors, traditionally used during Holi, often pose threats to both health and the environment. These harmful chemicals can seep into the ground, polluting water sources and contributing to air pollution. Recognizing the urgent need for a sustainable alternative, Gaurang and Saurabh embarked on a journey to revive the ancient tradition of natural color-making.

Drawing inspiration from their experiences volunteering with a Mumbai-based NGO focused on conservation efforts in tribal areas, the brothers discovered the Bhil community's remarkable talent for handcrafting natural colors. Deeply moved by the community's struggle to preserve their heritage against the onslaught of synthetic alternatives, Gaurang and Saurabh initiated a collaborative effort to produce and market natural Holi colors.

Crafted from handpicked flowers and devoid of any additives, these colors not only offer a safe and eco-friendly alternative but are also entirely edible. The intricate process involves meticulously sorting, cleaning, and blending flowers to create vibrant hues that capture the essence of nature.

Since their inception in 2018, 'Abeer Holi Colours' have garnered widespread acclaim, with a growing consumer base across Maharashtra and beyond. With over 40 tonnes of colors sold this year alone, the venture stands as a testament to the power of sustainable innovation rooted in tradition.

As the demand for natural and organic products continues to rise, Gaurang and Saurabh remain steadfast in their commitment to prioritize the needs of the Bhil community. Through their endeavors, they not only provide economic opportunities but also ensure the preservation of a cultural heritage that spans generations.

In a world increasingly defined by synthetic alternatives, 'Abeer Holi Colours' serves as a beacon of hope, reminding us of the beauty and significance of embracing our natural roots.
