Pranav and Prakash Dandekar's compact two-seater electric car could reshape urban transportation, offering an affordable, eco-friendly alternative to traditional vehicles.

Pranav Dandekar, along with his father Prakash, has developed a groundbreaking two-seater electric micro-car named Robin through their startup, Wings EV. Their mission is to redefine personal mobility in India with a compact and efficient vehicle designed to navigate crowded urban areas. Despite facing skepticism from peers who advised focusing on more conventional EV options like two-wheelers, Pranav was determined to create a four-wheeler with the footprint of a motorbike.

Drawing on Prakash’s 46 years of electrical engineering experience and Pranav’s engineering mindset, Robin is designed to balance size, safety, and functionality. Approximately half the size of the Tata Nano, the car offers essential features such as air conditioning, seat belts, and an innovative steering system. With a range of up to 90 km and prices starting at Rs 2 lakh, Robin is set to provide a more comfortable and safer alternative to two-wheelers, especially for women and elderly users. The Dandekar duo envisions their creation reshaping urban transport by offering a personal mobility solution that is efficient, eco-friendly, and cost-effective.

Having passed the rigorous safety tests of the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), Robin is now available for test drives in six cities. The father-son team plans to launch the vehicle next year, aiming to sell 3,000 units in the first year while positioning Robin as a practical, sustainable solution to India’s urban mobility challenges.
