Gwalior Student Builds Single-Seater Drone, Earns Praise from Anand Mahindra and Jyotiraditya Scindia

Medhansh Trivedi, a 17-year-old high school student from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, has achieved a remarkable feat by building a single-seater passenger drone that can carry a person weighing up to 80 kg and stay airborne for about six minutes. This extraordinary effort, accomplished in just three months, has drawn widespread attention and praise from prominent figures like Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra & Mahindra, and Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia.
Anand Mahindra took to social media to commend Medhansh’s passion for engineering and his commitment to innovation. “It’s not so much about innovation, since the know-how of building such a machine is available on the net. It’s about the passion for engineering and the commitment to get the job done. The more young people we have like this, the more innovative a nation we will become,” Mahindra remarked. His post quickly went viral, with users applauding the young innovator for his determination and skills.
Entrepreneur Anubhav Dubey also lauded Medhansh’s efforts, stating, “Innovation thrives not just on knowledge, but on passion and dedication to making things happen.” Another user highlighted the importance of fostering hands-on skills in schools, while others praised Mahindra for supporting young talent.
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia personally met with Medhansh at his residence in Safdarjung, New Delhi. He congratulated the young innovator on his accomplishment and encouraged him to aim for even higher goals. The minister emphasized the importance of nurturing such talent and assured Medhansh of full support in pursuing higher education at some of the world’s leading institutions.
Medhansh’s journey began with inspiration from drones he had seen in China. With the technical guidance and motivation of his teacher, Manoj Mishra, he set out to create something groundbreaking. By using locally sourced materials, he successfully built a drone capable of carrying a passenger for six minutes at a speed of 60 kmph.
“I got the inspiration to make this drone after seeing the drones in China. My teacher, Manoj Mishra, has helped me a lot technically along with motivation to develop the drone,” shared Medhansh.
This story is a shining example of India’s growing pool of young, self-driven innovators. Medhansh’s achievement serves as an inspiration for students across the country to pursue their passion for technology and engineering. With support from industry leaders like Anand Mahindra and government figures like Jyotiraditya Scindia, young talents like Medhansh are poised to take Indian innovation to new heights — quite literally!
