In a heartwarming tale of compassion and magic, Pravin Tulpule, a retired Lieutenant Commander of the Indian Navy, has seamlessly transformed into "Pintoo - the Clown Magician." Beyond his distinguished naval career, Pravin's new avatar is focused on spreading joy and wonder to children facing adversity in pediatric wards and orphanages.
Pravin's enchanting journey into the world of magic began in the early 1970s when he received a set of three card tricks as a gift. What started as a personal fascination quickly evolved into a passion, leading him to experiment with props and devour magic-related books. The turning point came when he staged his first paid show at home, charging a mere 25 paise per child. The success of this performance set the stage for Pravin's lifelong love affair with magic.
In 1995, Pravin took his magical prowess a step further by joining the Society of Indian Magicians in Mumbai. Interacting with seasoned magicians and participating in conventions, he expanded his repertoire, mastering card tricks, animal and bird illusions, and even ventriloquism. However, Pravin's unique twist on traditional magic came with the introduction of clowning into his performances, allowing him to elicit both laughter and wonder from his audience.
Pintoo, as he is affectionately known, dedicates 70 percent of his performances to children, particularly those in vulnerable situations. His shows, hosted in shelters, orphanages, pediatric wards, and events organized by NGOs, are offered completely free of charge. Pravin's altruistic endeavors extend to being the mascot for Toybank initiatives, where he actively participates in toy distribution events and advocates for donating used toys to benefit underprivileged children.
Beyond the realm of entertainment, Pintoo's magic serves as a powerful medium for social causes. He conducts hygiene-related campaigns in schools, using magic tricks to emphasize the importance of handwashing. Additionally, Pintoo actively supports blood donation campaigns, having become a regular donor himself, and encourages organ pledging, a commitment he has already made.
However, Pravin's most cherished performances unfold in pediatric wards, where he brings a sense of normalcy and joy to children battling various diseases, including cancer. From cutting cakes to distributing toys and crafting balloon shapes, Pintoo's mission is clear: to bring smiles and happiness to those facing challenging circumstances.
In embodying the philosophy of "happy fooling," Pravin believes that life is too short to dwell on negativity. As Pintoo, the Clown Magician, continues to captivate audiences with his magical charm, he leaves an indelible mark of laughter and wonder, proving that a touch of magic can brighten even the darkest days for those in need.
