In a landmark achievement for Indian cricket, Hardik Pandya became the first Indian cricketer to top the ICC T20I all-rounder’s rankings on July 3, 2024. The 30-year-old star reached the pinnacle after an outstanding performance in the T20 World Cup 2024, where India clinched the title by defeating South Africa by seven wickets in the final held at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados.

Pandya's stellar performance in the final, where he took three wickets for 20 runs in three overs, was crucial in defending India's total of 176 runs. His efforts helped India secure their second T20 World Cup title, ending a 17-year wait. Throughout the tournament, Pandya scored 144 runs and took 11 wickets, showcasing his all-round brilliance.

In the latest ICC rankings, Pandya jumped two places to claim the No. 1 spot with 222 rating points. He is the first Indian to achieve this feat in the T20I all-rounder’s rankings, joining the elite list of Indian cricketers who have topped the T20I rankings in various categories: Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav in batting, and Jasprit Bumrah and Ravi Bishnoi in bowling.

Axar Patel also made significant strides, becoming India's highest-ranked T20I bowler at No. 7 after taking nine wickets in the World Cup. Kuldeep Yadav followed closely, rising to the 8th spot with ten dismissals in the tournament. Jasprit Bumrah, the Player of the Tournament for his 15 wickets, climbed 12 positions to reach the 12th spot, marking his highest rank since 2020.

Among batters, Suryakumar Yadav maintained his position as the second-ranked T20I batter, while Yashasvi Jaiswal moved up to 7th place.

Hardik Pandya's rise to the top, alongside the stellar performances of other Indian cricketers, underscores a successful campaign in the T20 World Cup 2024 and a promising future for Indian cricket on the global stage.
