Indian Women's Archery Team Qualifies for Quarterfinals at Paris Olympics 2024

The Indian women's archery team, featuring Deepika Kumari, Ankita Bhakat, and Bhajan Kaur, has successfully qualified for the quarterfinals at the Paris Olympics 2024. The trio secured a commendable fourth place in the women's team ranking round, accumulating a total of 1,983 points. They finished behind South Korea, China, and Mexico.


In the individual qualification round, Ankita Bhakat led the team with an impressive score of 666, securing the 11th spot. Bhajan Kaur and veteran archer Deepika Kumari followed closely, finishing 22nd and 23rd with scores of 659 and 658 respectively.


South Korea dominated the ranking round, setting a new Olympic record with a total of 2,046 points. LIM Sihyeon of South Korea also set a world record in the individual ranking round with a score of 694. China and Mexico finished with 1,966 and 1,986 points, respectively.


The Indian women's team now advances directly to the quarterfinals, where they are set to face either France or the Netherlands on July 28. The individual events continue to promise excitement, with Ankita Bhakat facing Poland's Wioleta Myszor, Bhajan Kaur taking on Indonesia's Syifa Nurafifah Kama, and Deepika Kumari competing against Estonia's Reena Parnat in the round of 32.


Additionally, India's men's archery team, led by debutants Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara, also secured a spot in the quarterfinals. Bommadevara's outstanding performance placed him fourth in the individual rankings, contributing to the men's team's third-place finish in the team rankings.


India's archery teams have showcased exceptional skill and determination at the Paris Olympics, bringing hope and excitement to fans back home. The women's team, having missed out on the last two editions, has made a triumphant return and is poised for further success.
