Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Vijay Sundar Prashanth Clinch Maiden ATP Title at Hangzhou Open 2024
In a remarkable performance, India’s Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Vijay Sundar Prashanth secured their maiden ATP title as a pair, winning the men’s doubles event at the Hangzhou Open 2024. The unseeded Indian duo pulled off a thrilling comeback, defeating the German team of Constantin Frantzen and Hendrik Jebens with a score of 4-6, 7-6(5), 10-7 in a match lasting 1 hour and 49 minutes.
This victory marks the second ATP Tour title for Jeevan, who previously won the Chennai Open in 2017 with Rohan Bopanna. For 37-year-old Vijay, this is his first ATP Tour title, a significant milestone in his career. The Indian pair had a challenging path to the final, defeating higher-seeded teams along the way.
Their win at the Hangzhou Open will improve both players’ world rankings, with Jeevan set to break into the top-90 and Vijay nearing the top-100. Looking ahead, the pair aims to continue their momentum and target a spot in the Australian Open next year.
