Mumbai Teen Kaamya Karthikeyan Becomes Youngest Indian to Summit Mt Everest

Sixteen-year-old Kaamya Karthikeyan achieves remarkable feat, becoming the youngest Indian to scale Everest from Nepal and the second youngest girl worldwide.

Kaamya Karthikeyan, a class 12 student at Navy Children School in Mumbai, has made history by becoming the youngest Indian mountaineer to summit Mt Everest (8,849 m) from the Nepal side. On May 20, Kaamya, alongside her father Commander S Karthikeyan of the Indian Navy, successfully reached the peak of the world's highest mountain, marking a significant milestone in her climbing career.

The Indian Navy praised her achievement in a statement, highlighting that she is now the second youngest girl in the world and the youngest Indian to summit Everest from the Nepal side. The Navy shared their congratulations on social media, emphasizing her courage and determination in conquering six of the seven highest peaks on each continent. Kaamya aims to climb Mt Vinson Massif in Antarctica this December to complete the '7 Summits Challenge', becoming the youngest girl to achieve this remarkable feat.

Kaamya’s passion for mountaineering has been fueled by her family's love for adventure. From conquering Mt Elbrus in Europe to summiting peaks in Africa, Australia, and South America, she has consistently shown that age is no barrier to pursuing one’s passions and pushing the limits.

Her success serves as an inspiring example for young girls everywhere, demonstrating that neither gender nor age should hinder the pursuit of greatness. Kaamya Karthikeyan's journey continues to inspire and set new standards in the world of mountaineering. Kudos to you, Kaamya!
