Sambit Kumar Das, once a successful tech professional in the U.S., experienced a life-changing epiphany in 2014 that inspired him to dedicate his life to transforming education for tribal children in Odisha. He founded Ek Asha, a nonprofit aimed at addressing the educational gaps in underserved regions. By designing curriculums that integrate technology, art, and global perspectives, Das and his team strive to provide an enriching learning experience that goes beyond traditional rote memorization.

One of the standout features of Ek Asha is the Online Thinking Class (OTC), which connects students in tribal areas with volunteer teachers from around the world. This initiative allows children to explore subjects like biology, mathematics, and geography through inquiry-based learning. Additionally, TinkerLabs offer students hands-on experiences in various disciplines, fostering creativity and critical thinking. For many children, like 13-year-old Roshan, this innovative approach has sparked a newfound enthusiasm for learning, enabling them to create projects such as their own computer games.

Das's mission goes beyond just academic achievement; he believes in nurturing well-rounded individuals who contribute positively to society. The upcoming Gurukul school aims to provide a holistic education that emphasizes traditional arts, sports, and skill development.
